BHS Athletics is having a moment.

Last year, our Yellow Jackets brought home multiple league championships (6
in the spring season alone!), made historic postseason runs, and sent
athletes on to NCS and State competition. And our athletes are showing up
in the classroom too – with some teams earning Scholar-Athlete recognition
for more than 90% of their rosters.

With more than 1,300 student-athletes participating in BHS Athletics
annually across 50+ teams, that’s a lot to celebrate – and a lot worth
investing in.

Behind those accomplishments are incredibly committed coaches, families and
supporters, along with the Berkeley Athletic Fund working to make sure our
athletes have the resources, opportunities and support to thrive.

*Now we’re looking for a few new parents to help us build on that momentum.*

Our Board works across three areas:

• *Education* – bringing athletes, families, and coaches valuable resources
on topics like health, wellness, nutrition, recruiting and playing at the
next level
• *Financial support & fundraising* – closing the critical gap between what
the district funds and what it actually costs to run a competitive
athletics program – from coaches, officials and facilities to equipment,
uniforms and postseason travel – so BHS can remain a school where the
ability to pay doesn't determine the ability to play
• *Experience* – building community, celebrating our athletes and coaches,
and creating the moments and traditions that make BHS Athletics special

We’re particularly interested in hearing from *parents of newer BHS
athletes*. You bring fresh eyes, fresh energy and (if you’re a freshman
parent!) several years ahead to help us build something meaningful.  You
don’t need prior board experience, deep knowledge of BHS Athletics or a
giant amount of free time. We’re looking for people who care, have ideas,
are collaborative and want to contribute.

Rather than twisting arms, we’re opening up a brief application for parents
who are genuinely interested. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear
from you.
