Dear BHS Community,

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share some very sad news with
you today. This weekend, we learned of the sudden passing of Michael Jones,
the beloved husband of one of our BHS parents and BUSD staff members, Ms.
Sophina, and father of one of our BHS students.

Michael was a remarkably hard-working family man who loved his family
fiercely. Despite the demands of his career in the medical field, he made
it a priority to be an active part of our school, attending our community
events and meetings whenever his schedule allowed. His presence, warmth,
and dedication will be missed tremendously by his medical work community,
our Berkeley community, and right here at BHS.

During this unimaginably difficult time, we want to surround Ms. Sophina,
their three girls, and their entire family with our collective love and
support.

   positive thoughts, and strength to the family as they navigate this
   profound loss.
