News from the Berkeley High School Development Group (BHSDG)
June 2025
Happy Summer! Read on to find out more about the vital programs that your
generous donations to BHSDG have funded recently, and how to get involved
to help support our students, teachers and staff, and the Berkeley High
School community.
WHAT HAVE YOUR DONATIONS FUNDED RECENTLY?
Your giving to BHSDG funds after-school tutoring, classroom supplies,
software, teacher professional development, technology, college-application
support, and many other activities. Without your donations, the BHS
experience would simply not be the same. Highlights of grants funded in the
last few months:
After School Tutoring. BHSDG funds the after school tutoring program that
provides subject-specific support to all students under the direction of
teachers in their classrooms.
First Step Awards. These funds provide up to $750 for economically
disadvantaged students to help pay for college housing deposits, acceptance
deposits, travel, technology and school supplies.
College Application Fee Assistance. Funds helped 62 seniors with the cost
of their application fees (1-6 applications per student).
The Lillia Bartlow College Tour. BHSDG funding helped send students from
the College Bound Academy program on a tour of HBCU's to learn more about
student life, the application and financial aid process, and scholarship
opportunities.
