“Honoring Berkeley's Peacekeepers”, featuring Berkeley High School alumnus Dr. Victor
Rios, a sociology professor at UC Santa Barbara and author of <i>Punished: Policing the lives of Black and
Latino Boys</i>.

assembly
also recognized members of the Berkeley community who have worked to
eliminate violence and gun violence in Berkeley, on campus, and in the
larger
community. The assembly
acknowledged the challenges faced by citizens of this city dealing with
this
complex issue.</span></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 15px;">BHS Arts and Humanities Academy (AHA) students performed "A Window into Berkeley's Recent History with Violence, posing in scenes as they were described by a narrator. This stellar performance was written by BHS teacher (and assembly organizer) Alan Miller, and directed by dance teacher Lauren Benjamin (5th period Hip Hop).<br>
