UC San Diego.  COSMOS is a four-week residential program for talented and
motivated students completing grades eight through twelve. Students work
side-by-side with outstanding university researchers and faculty exploring advanced
topics that extend beyond the typical high school curriculum. COSMOS courses
are hands-on and lab intensive emphasizing current research underway at the <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
 w:st="on">California</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>. Most students have a GPA of
3.5 or above.  Students may only apply to one campus, but may apply to

color:black'> <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>iCLEM</span></b> is an 8-week
paid internship program for current sophomores and juniors with an interest in
biotechnology.  Applicants should come from disadvantaged social/financial
backgrounds, must be US citizens or permanent residents and must be 16 years of
age by June 1, 2011. The program takes place at the Joint BioEnergy Institute
in Emeryville from June 12 through August 11, 2011. In addition to basic
science and research, the program exposes students to career exploration and
college preparation.  Students are paid a stipend of $1500 plus a
scholarship of $500 upon successful completion of the program. Online
