Hello BHS Community,

We encourage all eligible voters to register ahead of the October 21st
cutoff. All Berkeley & Oakland 16-18+ year old residents should strongly
consider registering today since they are all now eligible to vote for
their school board representatives. Currently, there are 1,800+ 16+ year
olds at BHS. Yet, only 438 16-17 year old youth (as of 10.16) have
pre-registered* in the City of Berkeley.

*If you would like to register to vote > *Visit registertovote.ca.gov BEFORE
midnight on October 21st OR head to the leadership office in the cafeteria
to grab a paper form.

*If you feel like an uninformed voter *> Watch the video for yourself
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JvL3QrlvIw&t=511s> of the BUSD School
Board Candidate Forum with all 5 candidates.

**See Voter Data for yourself* > Alameda ROV registration/voter data
<https://alamedacountyca.gov/rov_app/edata?page=registration&h=1>. Filter
by BUSD or City of Berkeley

This election is a turning point moment where youth are being challenged to
demonstrate that they have the interest and ability to engage in civic
actions. It has taken over 8 years to get this privilege to vote in our
city. A strong turnout from youth will demonstrate that they can rise to
the challenge and there is always the possibility that they could claim
rights to have a say in a wider part of the ballot items. Today, it's the
school board, but in the future it could be mayor, city measures,
etc...Let's get those registration numbers up before October 21st.

Go Jackets!
