IB Diploma info from Ms Navarro:
The presentation focused on the American college system and when asked a
question about the IB diploma, I think my answer was not as nuanced as the
situation called for.
- For American schools, the IB diploma is a distinction. It shows the
student has challenged themselves but the scores that a school sees are
only predictions until July when the grading is done. Based on differing
school policies, IB diploma recipients can sometimes graduate early or jump
ahead in their courses. Credit is often only given for HL exams.
- For Canadian and European schools the IB diploma carries a lot of weight
as it demonstrates the student has achieved a high benchmark when in the
same pool as international applicants. So, if your student and family is
considering international schools, the IB diploma can make the application
process easier

but
the diploma is often a requirement.
