*Unraveling the Mysteries of the Standard Model with Particle Physics -
Lecture by Christian Bauer*

Time: 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time

About: Three of the 4 fundamental forces (all except gravity) are explained
incredibly well by a beautiful theory called the Standard Model. Despite
its great success, the Standard Model fails to explain several important
phenomena, such as the existence of dark matter and the fact that we
observe no anti-particles in our everyday lives. What's wrong?

Short bio: Christian Bauer is a Senior scientist and the head of the Theory
Group in the Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His
research is precise calculations of standard model predictions, and more
recently on ways to use Quantum Computing to solve difficult computational
problems in particle physics.
