Got a few hours a week and enjoy connecting with young people?
Want to do good while staying home and staying safe?

Join Berkeley Schools Volunteers (BSV) and bring extra care and attention into BUSD’s distance learning “classrooms.”

BSV is currently recruiting college students, retirees, working professionals and parents to support “classrooms,” district-wide. Every volunteer is trained to access and engage in BUSD’s online instructional platforms. Volunteers are then paired with a “Host Teacher,” based on grade level and subject area preferences. Volunteers may support students 1:1 or in small group “breakout rooms,” while also helping teachers with the everyday operations of the new “Zoom” normal.

BSV requires a commitment of 1-2 hours a week for the school year. While we place volunteers in all grades and subject areas, we are particularly eager to fill the following “high needs” areas:

·         Elementary: hands on science, writing, math & gardening
·         Middle: math
·         High: Spanish & special education
