Seniors and parents/guardians are invited to work on the FAFSA Financial
Aid Application with BHS Counselors and volunteers, including Spanish
speaking volunteers.

2. Create a FSA ID #: Page FSA ID Form

3. Gather financial info together like IRS 2019 taxes.

FSA ID Tips:

Create "FSA ID's" (two of them: 1 for the student applying. 1 for a
parent/guardian of the student)

   -

   If a parent/guardian created an FSA ID before for another child that
   went off to college, don't create a new one. We'll be using that one
   -

   If your parents/guardians are divorced or separated, have the custodial
   parent create the FSA ID for the parent... (custodial parent is defined by
   the parent that the student stays with more... if it's 50/50, best to
   choose the parent who has the lower income)

What you'll need to create the FSA ID

   -

   Email
   -

   Phone Number
   -

   SSN (If you have one) *for undocumented students, you'll apply to
   financial aid through the CA Dream Act Application (we'll have support for
   that the night of if this is you)

Just a note about the 2 FSA ID's

While your family will have 2 FSA ID's (student and parent), you will be
working on the 1 shared FAFSA application. You only need the 2 FSA ID's to
"sign" it electronically at the end. Additionally, a parent's verified (by
the Social Security Admin. which takes about a day) FSA ID is needed to
access the "IRS Data Retrieval Tool" which automatically populates a lot of
the FAFSA (huge shortcut)... Even without the Data Retrieval Tool, FAFSA is
still possible, it will just take a little longer.
