Good Morning, Jackets!

Textbook & Library Book Return

Greetings All Students & Families,

With your health as the primary concern, you can now return textbooks and library books to BHS. SENIORS, we are NOT withholding transcripts or diplomas for lost items. If you would like to make a donation to cover the costs of lost items and to support purchases of replacement books/textbooks please paypal - paypal.me/BerkeleyHigh <http://paypal.me/BerkeleyHigh>.

We will be emailing each student a list of current checkouts (please ignore any fines or charges). Seniors, and students not returning to BHS, please do your best to get items back to the school so they can be used for instruction next year. All other students can hold their materials until we resume some form of instruction - or return them as well.

Thank you for looking around and finding the materials, and bringing them back in the manner that works for you and your family.

All the best,
Team BHS Library and Textbooks

Seniors who need to turn in BUSD musical instruments (guitars, brass, woodwinds, strings) need to return those NOT to BHS, but instead to the district Visual and Performing Arts office.

Where to return your instrument:
VAPA Office/District parking lot at 2112 Browning st. near Addison and Browning

When you can return your instrument:
June 1-5 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm

Thanks so much, Everyone!

Dear Math 1 students,
Are you a current Math 1 student who is interested in taking Advanced Math 2 next year? If you earned an A in the fall semester and a P in the second semester, then you are eligible to begin the placement process to move to Advanced Math 2.

There are four required steps in the process:
1) Earn an A in the first semester of Math 1.
2) Earn a P in the second semester of Math 1.
3) Complete and submit all supplemental summer coursework on Tuesday, August 4th.
4) Demonstrate strong conceptual understanding and skill mastery on the Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Assessment on Tuesday, August 4th.

If you fulfill requirements #1 and #2 and are interested in placing in Advanced Math 2, please pick up the summer coursework. The summer coursework consists of two and a half modules from the Math 2 curriculum. We will have packets available at BHS at the Kittredge Breezeway on Tuesday, June 2nd and Tuesday, June 9th between 9 AM-12 PM.

On Tuesday, August 4th, you will have an opportunity to take the Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Assessment (MRCA). The MRCA will be given between 9 AM-5 PM in the Donohue Gym. We will assign students to time slots to allow for physical distancing. Please sign up on the Google Form <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeI_dHiWpBZcttUvfoks70XLye8nr5hMIc1I6_k4kN8SCDwkw/viewform>.

This process is the last entry point into the advanced math sequence. Students who are placed in Math 2 will not have an opportunity to place into Advanced Math 3.

Please see the attached FAQ <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HBAjyMo8AqBKBa1Hw0djjkKfKcvoy9G9KS6mCE9M3Is> for more information about the process for going from Math 1 to Advanced Math 2.

Have a great week !
