Dear Math 1 students,
Are you a current Math 1 student who is interested in taking Advanced Math
2 next year? If you earned an A in the fall semester and a P in the second
semester, then you are eligible to begin the placement process to move to
Advanced Math 2.
There are four required steps in the process:
1) Earn an A in the first semester of Math 1.
2) Earn a P in the second semester of Math 1.
3) Complete and submit all supplemental summer coursework on Tuesday,
August 4th.
4) Demonstrate strong conceptual understanding and skill mastery on the
Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Assessment on Tuesday, August 4th.
If you fulfill requirements #1 and #2 and are interested in placing in
Advanced Math 2, please pick up the summer coursework. The summer
coursework consists of two and a half modules from the Math 2 curriculum.
We will have packets available at BHS at the Kittredge Breezeway on Tuesday,
June 2nd and Tuesday, June 9th between 9 AM-12 PM.
On Tuesday, August 4th, you will have an opportunity to take the
Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Assessment (MRCA). The MRCA will
be given between 9 AM-5 PM in the Donohue Gym. We will assign students to
time slots to allow for physical distancing. Please sign up on the Google
Form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeI_dHiWpBZcttUvfoks70XLye8nr5hMIc1I6_k4kN8SCDwkw/viewform>
.
This process is the last entry point into the advanced math sequence.
Students who are placed in Math 2 will not have an opportunity to place
into Advanced Math 3.
Please see the attached FAQ

for more information about the process for going from Math 1 to Advanced
