PLEASE do not reply to this email, contact Mary Jacobs at
maryjacobs at berkeley.net or your academic or college counselor.

Juniors:

Warm greetings from the College & Career Center and Counseling Department.
We are thinking of you and your families during this difficult time. We
hope you are taking care of yourself. Check out Mr. Ceely's 5 Tips to Stay
Sane on the berkeleyhighcounseling Instagram.

Please remember that you may contact any counselor in the Counseling
Department or the College & Career Center. We are all willing to support
you with any concern you have.

This message is meant to provide updates and resources, only if you are
ready. MOST IMPORTANT- Take care of your physical and mental health!

If this is not a good time, do not read below. Wait for a better time.

SAT and ACT Update:

June 6th SAT test date is cancelled. A new SAT date was added for
September.

If public safety allows it, there will be SAT tests for the following
months:

August, September, October, November, and December

If you registered for the March, May, or June dates, you will receive
priority for the next registration. Refunds for SAT are available.

The next ACT test date at Berkeley High School is in September. There are
no ACT refunds at this time.

It is true that more schools are not requiring the SAT or ACT and will be
test optional for 2020-2021. However, your test score could help in
admission and/or merit scholarships. You could take a test and then send
scores if you are satisfied with the results.

Cal State University (CSU) is still determining eligibility criteria for
fall 2021 applicants regarding SAT/ACT suspension.

In summary, keep your momentum going and prepare and practice.

FEE WAIVERS:

If you are eligible for free/reduced lunch, you are also eligible for a
test fee waiver for SAT and ACT-you pay nothing. Contact Mary Jacobs at
maryjacobs at berkeley.net for the fee waiver code.

TOP TIPS TO REGISTER FOR SAT or ACT:

1. Create an account or login and save the username and password in a
google doc or your phone. You are the only one who will have the info so
SAVE!!

SAT:

https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register

ACT:

http://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html

2. Sign up for the essay. It is true that CSUs don't need a writing score,
but all other schools need writing.

3. Fill out starred or red asterisk- required fields * You can skip the
other questions.

4. Take your picture with your phone and send it to your email. Then, you
can upload your photo at the end of registration. The picture is for
security on your admission ticket for Day of the Test entrance to the test.

5. When you take the test, you need an admission ticket printed or on your
phone with a second picture like student ID card or driver's licence or
passport.

6. Study by taking free practice tests. Get used to the kinds of questions
and the timing of each part. Set your timers to try a sub test at a session.
