For Girls in Grades 9-12: Latina Youth Leadership at UC Berkeley on March
21, 2020

For over a decade, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Incorporated has been hosting
the Latina Youth Leadership Conference. The purpose of the conference is to
expose young Latina ladies to the realities of higher education and what
some of the paths are. We also like to emphasize the importance of having
women of color on campus and having their needs met.

This year we will be hosting the Latina Youth Leadership Conference on March
21st, 2020 on the UC Berkeley Campus. The theme this year is "The Words You
Give" which represents the value of words and advice we receive but also
speaking things into existence.

* focus on the topics of A-G requirements and Financial Aid

* student panel for the girls to learn about the organization and college
life

* parent panel and the experience of students who stay local and those who
go to school away from home.

Please see attachments for registration and schedules.

Anna Pelegrino, Iyana Carraway, and Olivia Forney created a program that
provides free professional haircuts to homeless and low-income individuals
in the community called Haircuts and Connections. They partner with the
Berkeley Shower Program and provide food, toiletries, and connections by
way of friendship and conversation to an often overlooked population in
Berkeley. In order to continue this amazing program, they need help! Please
donate toiletries, new socks, and any warm new or gently used coats you can
spare. If you have donations bring them to the Leadership office!

We will stop taking donations on Friday March 6, 2020.

Help BHS compete with six other schools to win a monetary prize in this
month's Energy Conservation Competition, led by Green Team! Turn off any
unused lights, especially when leaving classrooms. Use as much natural
light as possible. Unplug devices, which draw electricity even when not
being used. BHS can do more to be sustainable, and save money at the same
time!

Are you hoping to improve your leadership skills? Would you enjoy
challenging yourself, in the Sierras, with a supportive team at your back?

consider applying to Outward Bound's Youth Leadership Corps: a FREE
year-long leadership and service program that consists of a 12-day
backpacking trip in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains followed by
monthly service projects, organized by you and your friends. You will need
to complete a form, write an essay, obtain a letter of recommendation, and
attend an in-person interview to be considered, and the deadline is March
