Please join the next BOLD meeting on Monday, January 13th, 6:30-8:00 PM. Learn from Robin Miller, formerly at DREDF, (Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund), who now has a private law practice representing students with disabilities.  She will talk about education rights and focus on addressing the disability related education needs of your high school student, and planning for her/his future.

Robin is a great resource for all things related to Special Ed law and IEPs so bring any questions you might have.The meeting will take place at the College and Career Center, Building A, 2nd floor from 6:30-8:00 PM. All are welcome. 


About Robin Miller from her website: Robin has over 10 years professional experience advocating for the education rights of students with disabilities, in addition to personal experience as a special education parent.  As an Education Advocate at Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), Robin provided direct services and workshops for parents, guardians, and other education rights holders, including Spanish speakers, working to have schools successfully support and accommodate education needs of their children.  She also provided technical assistance and trainings for social services support providers, law students, dependency attorneys and others to support their advocacy for the education needs of their clients who have disabilities.
Robin also has extensive personal experience as an active school parent, and parent representative on district-level special education committees.  She is an active community volunteer - most recently supporting get out the vote and campaign activities.  She was a board member of Jewish Youth for Community Action, and earlier served on the board of Alameda County Homeless Action Center.

Robin has substantial past experience with advocacy, research and writing on homelessness and poverty issues that impact at-risk youth and adults  living on the edge, and has represented clients in consumer and other civil cases.

Robin has a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a law degree from University of California, Berkeley Law School.  She has been a member of the California Bar since 1989.
