Seniors:
Countdown to the last school day in 2019- *10 school days to December 20th.*
It is the last day for help with Common Application or Coalition, essays,
or letters of recommendation before winter vacation.
*Essay readers will be in the CCC all next week, Monday- Thursday*,
starting Monday 12/9 at 9:00 AM with essay reader, Jamie Keller.
*‘Tis the season to apply for scholarships-*
*Berkeley Community Scholars staff* will be back *in the CCC on Thursday,
December 12th at lunch* if you missed the first information meeting. Lynn
Walker and Linda Osuorji will tell you about the 4 year mentorship and
grant they award to eligible students.
*How to apply for scholarships:*
1. *Look at each school* you are applying to for their scholarship
opportunities, eligibility, requirements, and deadlines.
2. *Look at websites* and plan ahead for a scholarship. Ask everyone if
they know of scholarships- employers, churches, temples, civic groups,
sororities, fraternities, and more.
3. *Save your essays* in google docs from college applications which may
be used for the scholarship application.
4. Ask 1-2 people for a strong *letter of recommendation*. Recommenders
may upload or mail a letter of recommendation directly to the scholarship
group.
*Here is a spreadsheet with scholarship opportunities in monthly tabs at
the bottom:*

to the original websites to verify.
