*Vote 16*

An entirely student run organization will be facilitating a classroom voter
registration drive for all Juniors next week December 9-13.  Juniors!
Please bring your drivers license or last four digits of your social
security number in order to pre-register to vote!



*BHS Chorus Concert*

Join us for a great evening of music!  Our program is expected to last
about one hour.

Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm

Florence Schwimley Little Theatre, on the BHS campus off Allston Way

ADMISSION IS FREE!



*Student Climate Strike:* This is a national event run by Fridays for
Future, US youth Climate Strike, and Youth Vs Apocalypse, it is not run by
a specific BHS organization.

This Friday December 6th is the national student climate strike.  Students
from around the Bay Area will meet in downtown San Francisco to protest
Blackrock, one of the largest oil investors.

On Friday world leaders will be gathering at the UN annual climate
conference. We will be demanding that they take action on the climate
crisis!

Come to the climate strike this Friday in San Francisco, everyone will take
Bart into the city together.



*Boys soccer* kicks off the season this Thursday (12/6) with a home match
against Hayward, JV at 4 and Varsity at 6.  The first 20 students are
FREE!  Come cheer on the Jackets!


Correction on yesterday's big announcement about winter athletic
conditioning. The pool portion is delayed due to necessary pool maintenance.


*Winter Athletic Conditioning*

BHS Students who are interested in getting into shape over the winter are
invited to attend physical conditioning sessions during the school week.
The object of these sessions is to improve strength, speed, endurance,
mobility, and power capacity of attendees.  Multiple options for
conditioning are available including:


Speed, Plyometric, and Endurance Training - 4:45pm - 6:15pm Monday through
Friday

Interested students should meet near the North entrance to Jacket stadium
between the stadium building and the Donahue Gym.


Powerlifting and Weight Training - 6:30 to 7:30 on Monday, Wednesday, &
Friday

Interested students should meet at the BHS Weight Room.


Swimming and Aquatic Aerobic Conditioning - 3:30 to 5:00 on Tuesday and
Thursday

Interested students should meet at the BHS Pool. (Not up and running yet)


Aquatic Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention  - 6:15 to 7:30 on Tuesday and
Thursday

Interested students should meet at the BHS Pool. (Not up and running yet)



*COME SEE THE NEXT GENERATION OF PLAYWRIGHTS* this Wednesday through
Saturday, 7pm at the Little Theatre. Advanced Theatre Projects presents
groundbreaking new work by students.. Plays by Emily Hornig, Raquel
Matthews, Forest Sabath and Caymus Smith-Pierce.  Don't miss!


Calling all female identifying people of color who are interested in acting
and dancing! The last read through for this year’s spring production *FOR
COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF* by
Ntozake Shange will be held on Wednesday, December 4th in room A203 at
lunch!  No audition materials are required but please come prepared with
food-bring your lunch!  If you are interested but can not attend contact

will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 10th and 11th, there is a

SAVE THE DATE: Fall 2019 Waivers:  Your signed and completed yellow
portions of the Fall PE Waiver is due Friday, Jan 10, 2020.  No exceptions
will be made for missed deadlines.



*Seniors*

Congratulations on college application submissions so far.  No rest for the
weary.  There will be essay readers in the CCC all week for the Common
Application and a scholarship meeting on Wednesday, December 4th at lunch.

Friday at lunch


*College Application Workshops* after school on Tuesday, December 3rd: in
the CCC starting at 3:30.


*Berkeley Community Scholars Scholarship*:

Berkeley Community Scholars 4 year scholarship and mentorship program.
On-line application will open this week and is due in March, 2020.
