Berkeley High School Development Group (BHSDG) have funded, as well as the
many ways you can invest in strengthening our school.

*Fall Fundraising Updates*

*Check out the BHSDG annual report. *Hot off the presses: the annual

*Mrs. Dalloway's fundraiser.* If you bought books during this past
weekend's fundraiser at Mrs. Dalloway's, the bookstore will donate 17% of
all sales back to the BHSDG -- but only if you turn in your receipts on
time! Receipts must be turned in at the BHS front desk or by email to
lily.rockholt at gmail.com <lily.rockholt at gmail.com?subject=> *by November 15*
at the latest. Our librarians have also put together a wish list if you
would like to contribute a book to the BHS library: https://bit.ly/34NSONl

*Cheese Board fundraiser. *Many thanks to the Cheese Board Collective for
donating their time, food, and venue for our fundraising party in October,
and to all of you who attended or volunteered! Big thanks to Beaune
Imports and Poseidon Vineyard for donating wine for the party, and to Karen
and Richelieu Hemphill for the exciting wine collection they donated for
the silent auction. All told, we took in about $6,000 for BHS.

*What Have Donations Funded Recently?*

Your giving to BHSDG sustains programs such as after-school tutoring,
computers, classroom supplies, and field trips. Without your donations,
the BHS experience would simply not be the same. Highlights of grants
funded at our November board meeting include these programs benefiting
students:

*BHS Jazz Band Tour of Cuba ($3,800).* Your donations are funding
scholarships so that all juniors and seniors in the program now have the
opportunity to take part in this life-changing trip's cross-cultural
exchange, music study, and performances.

*Digital cameras for Independent Studies ($3,185).* The equipment will
help accommodate the growing number of BIS students taking the digital
photography class.

*An iPad, Apple TV, Apple Pencil, and more for AP Bio and Environmental
Science ($1,750).* Technology will help pilot teaching strategies to make
learning more engaging and accessible, including the use of augmented and
virtual reality.

*Afro-Haitian Dance Program ($1,500).* BHSDG is funding supplemental
instruction to help pass the leadership torch for this vital program,
following the retirement of legendary teacher Mama Washington.

*Garden program at BTech and BIS ($1,000).* Your donations will help build
a beautiful bamboo barrier to help protect this vibrant school garden.

*Gym equipment for BTech ($1,000).* The alternative school can now offer a
small gym area with weights, exercise bikes, and a rowing machine for kids
in its PE program.

*How You Can Help*

*Donate. * Donate online at www.bhsdg.org, or via check payable to BHSDG,

*About BHSDG*

We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit foundation made up of parents and
students whose mission is to strengthen the educational experience of every
Berkeley High School student. In the 2018-2019 school year, we directly
funded $352,000 in grants, and we managed an additional $261,000 of
donations and other revenue earmarked for specific learning communities,
programs, and departments.

BHSDG is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations
to BHSDG are tax deductible. We generally meet on the first Monday of each
month from September through June, except for holidays and school breaks.
The next board meeting will be 7-9 pm on Monday, December 2, in the College
and Career Center. Visitors and those interested in becoming members are
welcome!
