College/Career: Post-Financial Aid Info Night



1. A huge thank you to those who came out and to our presenter last night,
Shannon Harrison, Financial Aid Counselor from UC Berkeley. Her
presentation slides are attached to this e-mail.



2. CASH4COLLEGE: October 17th (Thursday) @ 6PM in the BHS College and
Career Center + neighboring classrooms: Come fill out the FAFSA (financial
aid) application with Counselors and Financial Aid Advisors in the comfort
of the Berkeley HS campus. Please see attached FAFSA worksheet in order to
see what to bring.



A quick word about the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). While that
number is generated by FAFSA to predict what families can expect to pay for
the school year, it is not always the exact amount that the family will end
up paying. In some cases, you will pay less than your EFC and,
unfortunately, in some cases you may pay more. The conversation about
finances/affordability within your family should start as early as this
semester. Once our students get into their schools and receive their
financial aid packages, we will need to consider multiple factors
(financial being one of the main ones) before coming to our ultimate
decision. As always, if you have any questions you may reach out to the CCC
staff (contact sheet attached as well)
