This year's BHS Storytelling festival, as part of the celebration of the African American Studies Department's 50th Anniversary, will take place on Thursday, March 28 in the Little Theater.

We are looking for 10 volunteers from 1:15 until 3:30 to welcome and usher students into their seats, to pick up lost items afterward, and to be an adult presence.

There will be two assemblies featuring three African American women storytellers:

	Karen McKie, a former BHS parent, Berkeley storyteller and dollmaker, whose work has appeared in universities, social institutions and museums;

	Awele Makeba, an Oakland speech and drama teacher who has shared her work around the world;

	Beli Sullivan, an actor and storyteller currently with the African American Shakespeare company and whose work has appeared in radio, television and digital media.

Volunteers must be present by 1:20 in the Little Theater for a quick orientation. If necessary, you can leave after we seat the Period 6 students, around 2:50. You will enjoy the event, which could not happen without you! Please let me know if you able to help out, thanks.
