PLEASE do not reply to this email; contact Juan Raygoza, juanraygoza at berkeley.net

I would like to inform families of BHS 9th grade students that if your student entered the Small Learning Communities (SLCs) Lottery for the 10th grade we have now mailed, to your address of residence as shown on Illuminate, a letter which includes your student’s SLC assignment for the 2019-20 school year.

THE SLC LOTTERY RESULT IS FINAL.

The goal of the computerized lottery assignment system is to provide a fair and equitable method for school assignments while prioritizing individual choice and ensuring student diversity across the enrollment of all of Berkeley High School’s Small Learning Communities.

On Tuesday, March 19th, your student’s new SLC Guidance Counselor(s) will work with them to make their course requests for the 10th grade, including requesting electives as appropriate within their new SLC. In order to prepare, please take some time to review the BHS Course Catalog 2019-20 that your student has received. An electronic copy of the catalog is also available on the BHS website.

In an effort to ensure that every 9th grade student has the opportunity to review their newly-assigned SLC course options in the course catalog prior to meeting with their Counselor, any student that has not received the SLC assignment mailing at their residence by Wednesday, March 13th can visit Juan Raygoza, Vice Principal, in the Main Office - D155 the following day, Thursday, March 14th, during lunch time, 11:45am-12:15pm, or after school, 3:30pm-4:00pm, to confirm their SLC assignment.

Thank you.
