Dear BHS,


If you are gender expansive and you’d like to learn about a brand new peer
support group that is forming, come to “G-109 Studio A” this *Thursday, Jan
31 at lunch*. Meet Elliot, the facilitator, learn about the purpose of the
group and preview the schedule of meetings for the rest of the year.

*Seniors!* Still need to finish the FAFSA or any other financial aid
application for college? Come join us in the CCC for one of our FAFSA
workshops either *Wednesday during Periods 1, 2, or 3... OR Thursday during
Periods 4, 5, or 6*. For full details, check for an e-mail titled Fafsa
Workshop Reminder that was sent on Jan. 16 by Mr. An. Thank you!


*Calling all Club Leaders*~All club leaders and staff sponsors of
officially registered student clubs, please attend one of two club leader
meetings on *Wednesday, January 30 at LUNCH OR AFTER SCHOOL*. The meeting
will last 30-minutes and will take place in the WEST GALLERY. Mr. V and
Paavani will review club news as well as discuss upcoming opportunities
like the spring club fair and the spring carnival.


*Happy Chinese New Year! Gung Hay Fat Choy!*

The Berkeley High Mandarin program is pleased host a Chinese Culture Fair
at the EAST GALLERY on *Friday, February 8th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.*
There will be awesome activities, delicious food, and it is all FREE!.
Please come with your class and get ready to have a good time!


*The Jacket~Black History Month Edition*

The Jacket Newspaper is looking for submissions from the BHS community to
be included in the Black History Month special edition Jacket. Submissions
can be illustrations, photos, quotes, poems, and other writing and visual
art samples on black history for the black experience in this country. *They
are due February 8th*, and anyone with questions can contact

*Movie~Loving*

Join us in the *Little Theater Feb 22 @4 pm* to watch a movie based off the
true story of Richard and Mildred Loving. The Lovings were an interracial
couple living in Virginia during Jim Crow. Their marriage, and arrest for
violating miscegenation laws, caused a legal battle that led to the U.S.
Supreme Court decision that legalized interracial marriage in the US.

Hot beverages and desserts will be served at intermission. As usual,
students and faculty get in at an reduced price!

Bring your significant others, friends, and family for this powerful
screening! Make sure to pass on the word and the EVITE to anyone you think
would be interested!!!!!!!!

ELECTED POSITION on the 2019-20 ASB Leadership team. We are looking forward
to hearing from a wide variety of voices and perspectives to effect
positive change on campus. You can run a campaign for:

School Board Student Representative

President

Vice President

Chief of Service

Chiefs of Publicity

School Site Council Student Rep.

BSEP Student Rep.

BHS Development Student Rep.

Appointed candidate positions such as deputy, treasurer, secretary, and
more are selected by interview.

Applications are now available online on the BHS Leadership website.

T*he Vagina Monologues:* Come see The Vagina Monologues *February 1, 2 at
the Florence Little Theater, 7 pm* tickets are only $5 and February 1st is
pay what you can day.


*Chess: Calling all chess players!* BHS chess club meets *every* *Thursday
from 3:30 to 4:45* in M-110. Starting this Thursday, we will have free
intermediate chess instruction (by a professional chess teacher) for the
next 10 weeks as well as free refreshments! Go Jacket Chess!
