Berkeley High African America Studies Department is celebrating their 50 Year anniversary in a series of events highlighting the history. One of these was a dinner on December 15 to celebrate and honor the memory of the founder, Dr. Richard D Navies. All of the Navies family attended and many of them spoke at this magical event. This is the only known African American Studies Department currently active at the high school level in the United States. Check out photos and video of the event.
