*BHSDG DECEMBER NEWS AND UPDATES*

Last month we sent out our latest annual report
<http://bhsdg.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2017-2018_AnnualReport_final.pdf>,
detailing all of our grants and acknowledging all of our donors for the
2017-18 school year, to the entire BHS Community, present and past. The
report is now posted online on our website.

Many thanks to all of you who were inspired by our work to make a donation
to the BHSDG! We hope that many more of you will also be inspired to
personally give direct support to all of our students and our school
community before the calendar year is up. The truth is there is simply
never enough funding available to give all of our students - and teachers
and staff - the support they need to fulfill their potential. For example:
many of our Seniors are currently applying to colleges: the tension is
thick out there! BHSDG is right there with them: we are paying for
application fees for those students whose families can’t afford them. As
our Juniors are deep into taking the SAT, the ACT, and upcoming AP tests,
BHSDG is also there with them: we are paying for testing fees which are
beyond their means. And of course, for all students in all grades, BHSDG is
paying teachers so that they can work extra hours to provide tutoring in
all subjects after the school day is done, year-round. If you scroll down a
bit, you will see highlights of the latest grants our Board approved.
Making a donation is easy - follow this link to make it by PayPal:
http://bhsdg.org/wp/give/ or save us the 2% PayPal fee and write us a
check! If you have a PayPal account you can avoid the processing fee by
donating through the PayPal Giving Fund

mailing address is BHSDG, P.O. Box 519, Berkeley, CA 94701-0519.

*Who and What is Berkeley High School Development Group? *The BHSDG is a
group of parent and student volunteers; our mission is to strengthen the
educational experience of every Berkeley High School student. We strive for
equity. We are equity driven. We fund grants which benefit our school
community and raise the funds to support this work. We meet on the first
Monday of each month (rescheduled as needed to accommodate holidays and
school breaks) from September through June, consider grant proposals and
work on ways to raise the funds to support them. We are a registered
nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization; all donations to the BHSDG are tax
deductible. *Our next board meeting will be: Monday, January 7th from
7:00-9:00pm in the College Career Center. Visitors and new members are
welcome!*

gifts to the general fund, and $250K in “restricted” funds (gifts
specifically designated for a learning community or program - like AC,
BIHS, Science, Universal 9th Grade, Band and Orchestra, e.g.) Most of our
donations come from BHS community members - like you!

The Development Group accepts grant proposals from all Berkeley High School
(BHS), Berkeley Technology Academy (BTA), and Independent Studies (IS)
teachers, students, and staff on a monthly basis. (Deadline: 15th of each
month for consideration at the next Board meeting.) *Students and Staff -
