*FREE CONFERENCE AT UC BERKELEY on SAT. 11/17/18:*
This email is to inform you that *THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2018*, we are
hosting the People of Color Day of Resistance (formerly known as Raza Day)
and we would like to extend an invitation.
POC Day is a FREE annual conference on the UC Berkeley Campus open to all
first-generation middle school, high school, community college students and
their guardians. During the POC Day, there will be political and academic
workshops that will be centered around understanding higher education and
current political issues affecting the communities of color. These
workshops will be facilitated with the help of current students and staff
who will share their experiences, struggles and stories.
FREE FOOD IS PROVIDED throughout the duration of the program and FREE
SHIRTS will be provided to the first 150 students who register on the day
of the event.
The 1st Annual “Raza Day” inspired Latinx students on campus to fight for a
set space for our community; a year later the Raza Recruitment and
Retention Center was founded. The Raices Recruitment and Retention Center,
previously the Raze Recruitment and Retention Center, is dedicated to
recruiting and supporting Latinx students at all levels of education. For
the 42nd anniversary Raza day, the community recognized the need and
importance of cross-cultural dialogue and support to empower every
first-generation students of color.
