Courageous Conversations: Digging Deeper to Engage in Conversations About
Differences

This event will:
        • Support participants in feeling more comfortable and willing to
engage in conversations about differences
        • Breakthrough skepticism about the effectiveness and usefulness of
diversity and inclusion conversations
        • Stimulate critical thinking about the definitions and meanings
attached to key diversity-related terms, particularly:  social identity,
power, privilege, intersectionality and cultural humility

Presented by: Berkeley High School Parent Resource Center/Office of Family
Engagement and Equity.

Facilitated by Jason Seals

Jason Seals currently serves as the Department Chair of Ethnic Studies and
is a Professor of African American Studies at Merritt College where his
work focuses on student preparation and development, innovative
instructional practices, curriculum development, concurrent Enrollment and
institutional learning outcomes.
