VENGA PREGUNTE (VOTE)
COME VOICE (VOTE)
The Berkeley PTA Council Invites You to a FORUM with the School Board CANDIDATES
Wednesday, October 3rd from 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Longfellow Middle School, 1500 Derby St, Berkeley, CA
Did you know that three of the School Board’s five seats are up for grabs in the Nov. 6 election?
The School Board represents the public’s voice in public education - our voice! - providing citizen governance over the school district - from employing and evaluating the Superintendent to adopting policies, curriculum, and the District’s budget.
To get acquainted with candidates for 3 School Board Seats, there's a School Board Candidates Forum on October 3rd, 6.30-8.30 pm, at Longfellow Middle School Auditorium, 1500 Derby Street, with all 5 of the 6 candidates attending: Ty Alper (incumbent), Kadijah Brown, Norma Harrison, Dru Howard, Abdur Sikder, and Julie Sinai (in alphabetical order). It will allow a full, in-depth discussion of issues most important to Berkeley students, teachers, parents and guardians. The forum will feature brief candidates’ presentations, and will focus on voicing concerns and questions of the school community – students, parents, teachers, guardians – regardless of whether you are eligible to vote. Interpretation in Spanish and Arabic will be available at the event.
Come ask the candidates about the issues that most concern you! Education is about the kind of society we want.
If you can’t come, you can submit your question for the candidates here in English<http://berkeleypta.org/events/bpta_candidate_forum_2018/question_form>, Español<http://berkeleypta.org/events/bpta_candidate_forum_2018/question_form_esp> or Arabic العربية<https://berkeleypta.org/events/bpta_candidate_forum_2018/question_form_arabic>. We want everyone’s voice.
You can RSVP in our Berkeley PTA Candidates Forum facebook page<https://www.facebook.com/events/1221169961383585/>. If you can’t make it, you can watch the forum via our youtube channel<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi1z9wCNIX_TLjCBjT7ZtMw>.
