Hello Music Fans!
Come out to the Community Theater this Friday night at 7 pm for the Battle of the Bands with this phenomenal collection of performers: Kanye Starts a Noise Band, the Wrubel Brothers, Midas Whale, The Deplorables, the Hot Pitches, Onye, FTNOH, and BAIT. Student tickets are $3, adult tickets are $8, and BHS Staff are free. See you at the Battle!
Join BHS Orienteering
Orienteering is a sport that mixes map reading and decision-making with cross country running, to find checkpoints along a course as fast as possible.
Competitive and non-competitive members are welcome, as well as all levels of athletic ability.
No matter how good or bad you are at directions, everyone is encouraged to come and improve your skills!
Orienteering Club is a great way to get P.E. credit, enjoy Bay Area parks, and compete in state, regional, and national championships even as a beginner.
Meetings are held on Thursdays at lunch in C221.

Take the PSAT on Saturday, October 13, 2018!
WHO? All 11th Graders and interested 10th Graders
WHAT? PSAT is great preparation for SAT and Juniors are eligible for National Merit Scholarships Competition
WHEN? Saturday, October 13, 2018 (Note: the date in the BHS Student Planner is incorrect)
WHERE? Berkeley High School; students should report to the Campus Green on Oct. 13 by 8AM to find their room assignments posted on the C building doors
COST? Fee is $25 payable in cash, check, or money order written to Berkeley High School
Juniors participating in the free and reduced lunch program pay $5; please bring a copy of the district approval letter or email when you register
You can bring this letter to Ms. Williams at sign up or to Ms. Jacobs in the CCC beforehand

50th Anniversary: African American Studies Department Celebrations
Did you know this is the 50th Anniversary year of Black Studies at Berkeley High School? This year the African American Studies Department is hosting a series of celebrations to honor this historic accomplishment.
If you rap, sing, or burst poems and love to teach, learn and make black history, come to E200 (AKA Mama Washington Dance Studio) this Wednesday, September 19th at 4 pm, to learn how you can be a part of this celebration and be a part of Young, Gifted, and Black.

You may visit with college admissions directors and counselors in the CCC to learn more about programs and applications. Please get approval from your teachers first so you do not miss important assignments, projects, tests, or quizzes. You are responsible for missed work.

Berkeley High’s College Essay Readers are a group of professional writers and editors committed to helping BHS seniors shine through their personal statements for UC, the Common App and supplemental essays.
Readers will be available in the College Career Center on a first come, first served basis to help students brainstorm, write and revise their essays.
Schedule of Essay Readers: Note time change on Monday morning to 9:00 AM start.
Monday: 9:00 AM-9:57 AM (before late start)
Monday- Thursday: during lunch and after school @ 3:30 PM
