*Tonight’s**Game (Friday 9.7.18)*
Come out and support the Berkeley High Yellow Jackets Football team tonight as
they take on the Milpitas Trojans at Jacket Stadium. This is the first home
game of the season. The JV game starts at 5:00 pm and the Varsity at 7:30
pm
*Chess*
Calling all Players---that's Berkeley High School Chess Players!! The Chess
Club meets this Thursday and every Thursday after school from 3:30 to 4:45 in
M110. Everyone and all levels (including beginners) are welcome. Chillax
with chess and snacks!!!
*Back 2 School HIP HOP Fest *
Back 2 School HIP HOP fest on September 15th at Grove Park (Playground).
Featuring BHS Alum Marty Grimes, C5, Netta Briel, and more. Free concert
with graffiti exhibits, breakdance competition and free back to school
haircuts.
*Saturday, September 15th 1 pm to 5 pm **at Grove Playground. This is a
free event. *
*Freshman Applications: Jacket Staff *
Freshman Applications to be on the Jacket Staff are out on the Jacket's
website now, at berkeleyhighjacket.com/applications . Also, we are
accepting applications for columnists. If anyone has questions, they can
email dylandelancie at students.berkeley.net.
*Field Hockey*
Congratulations to The field hockey team for their 2-0 victory over
Tamalpais High! Great job ladies!
*Audition*
Vagina Monologues Is holding Auditions on September 27 and 28 sign up at
the bulletin board in the A building or email bhsvagmon2018 at gmail.com Anyone
who identifies as female is encouraged to audition.
*Sailing*
Are you interested in sailing? Join the BHS sailing team. The team travels
up and down the California coast, competing in various races with over 60
other teams in the state. They practice a few times a week out of the
Richmond Yacht Club, and joining the team makes you P.E. waiver eligible.
No prior experience is necessary. This year's season will run from
mid-September until late April. Email Rosie Ward,

*Calling All Bands and Rappers*
Calling all bands, singers, and rappers: Berkeley High's battle of the
bands is coming up on September 21! Sign up in the leadership office by
September 7th. For information email the sophomore class president and vp,
Rohini Chokkalingam and Kieran Sullivan, or talk to Mr V.
*All Students: College and Career Center (CCC)*
For ALL students: "After school tutoring has started in the College and
Career Center. The CCC's hours are from 3:30-6:00, Monday through Thursday.
Please come to the CCC after school to receive assistance from highly
skilled college tutors, get some homework done, access campus computers and
printers, fulfill Math tutoring hour requirements, and clear unexcused
absences. Hope to see you there!" The College and Career Center (CCC) is on
the 2nd floor of the D building across from the library.
*Seniors: College and Career Center (CCC) ~Visits with College Admissions
Directors and Counselors*
Attention Seniors: Seniors you may visit with college admissions directors
and counselors in the CCC to learn more about programs and applications.
Please check with your teachers so you do not miss important assignments,
projects, tests, or quizzes. You are responsible for missed work.
The following college visits are this week:
· Friday, September 7: at 2nd period: Spelman College
*Check out the college visit schedule in Naviance under Colleges or at the
CCC calendar at the BHS website.*
*Basketball*
· All girls that are interested in playing basketball, there is OPEN GYM 2
days a week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm to 6pm. No experience is
required. On behalf of the Girls Coaching Staff, welcome back to Berkeley
High School. Go Yellow Jackets.
· The boys basketball program will be running open gyms Mondays and
Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm in the jacket gym. These open gyms will run
through September
10th to October 24th.
Please wear athletic gear such as shorts and shoes. Jeans and boots will
not be allowed.
