Hi BHS families-

*BOLD* (Berkeley High Families Owning Learning Differences) is a support
group for parents of children with Learning Differences. This group, formed
in 2013 by Berkeley High parents, meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at
BHS in the College and Career Center. BOLD is dedicated to finding ways to
support, empower and educate students with learning disabilities and their
families by fostering understanding and advocating for effective
intervention

We would like to invite all families with kids with learning differences to
join BOLD's monthly meetings. This is a great way to connect with other
families and to share resources. You are not alone!

Our first meeting of the 2018-2019 school year will be Monday, September
10th from 6:30 to 8:30 in the D building room 219* (We normally meet in the
CCC but it is not available this month). There will be a presentation
by Susannah Bell, Special Education Program Manager for students ages 14-22
in BUSD, and Monica Salvadore, Education Specialist/IEP Case Manager @
BHS. Susannah and Monica will discuss Special ed services available at
BHS, including how special ed is structured within BHS and BUSD
and resources available to students and families.

They will also address BHS and BUSD's current focus on special ed and what
this means for families and students.

Following is a calendar of future BOLD meeting dates and proposed topics
for the 2018-2019 school year. Please note that all topics are subject to
change based on the availability of speakers. Also because of
holidays, etc. some meetings are scheduled for other than the 2nd Monday of
the month. We will make all efforts to send out dates in advance via the
etree.
