I spent the day at Berkeley High as a substitute school safety officer, and was able to catch the welcoming assembly, which was awesome. The clear message of the day was caring, respect and mutual support with the theme to incoming freshmen... "You've Got This!" The resounding cheer when Sgt. McGee, Berkeley PD's School Resource Officer was introduced left the feeling that the students really felt that the whole team is looking out for their well-being. It was palatable, and I heard people remarking on it throughout the day. Lots of information in the assembly, and much of it is in photos of the slides. The signs I found posted randomly in the hallways just reinforced the positive messages to students. Patrolling the halls after school I ran across a lot of activity, including a classroom full of teachers training on the student tracking system. I really appreciated seeing the new turf on the football field. It is gorgeous, and so much better when these athletes take a fall. Do you know where the 4'x8' portrait (in photos) of former BHS Vice Principal denise brown is on display at Berkeley High.

Just another great day at Berkeley High.
