Dear Berkeley High School Community:



Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) is a non-profit program that uses art as a medium for personal transformation, leadership development, and job-readiness training. YSA primarily serves transition age youth between the ages of 16-25 who are homeless, low-income, disabled, or otherwise considered "at-risk". Interested individuals can stop by during program hours (Monday - Friday from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm for adult session, and 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm for youth session) to complete the in-person application and orientation process. Although enrollment is open year-round, the Fall 2018 Program will begin on Monday, September 10th.


New participants (aka "Aspirants") can earn a stipend of $150 per month for attending approximately 7.5 hours of program per week and completing assigned projects. New participants can also train to be a part of the street sales team where they earn commission on art sales. After a semester, participants can advance into an "Apprentice" position where they assume more responsibility and earn $300 per month. After an additional semester, they may be eligible to advance into a "Leader" position where they earn $500 per month.


Participants meet regularly with the case manager for additional support in achieving their personal goals (i.e., housing, employment, education, health and wellness, etc.) upon transitioning from the program.
