Naviance Updates, College Visits, & More

Hello! My name's David An and I'm one of the College Counselors at Berkeley High. Late last year I sent out communication about Naviance, a software that will support our students through the college application process. This message is intended for families of Seniors.

Log In Reminder:
Follow the following link<https://student.naviance.com/berkeleyhigh> to access Naviance Student (Formerly known as Family Connection)
~username: student e-mail (i.e. davidan at students.berkeley.net<mailto:davidan at students.berkeley.net>)
~password: Berkeley + student ID # (i.e. Berkeley1234567)

We will be using Naviance this year for college applications, namely
1. Letters of Rec.
2. Transcript Requests
3. College Rep Visits @ BHS
4. Scholarships
5. Application Progress

~College Visits on Naviance. Already over 65 Colleges scheduled. See full list on Naviance Student under Colleges tab. Visits as soon as September 6 from representatives from Princeton and Carnegie Mellon (see list of visits attachment to this e-mail, last updated 8/23).

~Letters of Rec (Common App - Naviance Matching):
Students requesting letters of recommendation must complete the Senior Profile Survey on Naviance by September 14 to request letters of rec through Naviance.

For Common App schools, you must "match" your Common App account with your Naviance. Watch this video for an overview on how to do that.<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znOq38FUrTc>
1. Select BHS as your school in Common App
2. FERPA Release in Common App (must add at least 1 College)
3. Match Common App in Naviance
4. Continue to work on applications in Common App
5. Request Letters of Rec, etc. through Naviance
6. Continue to update as you progress in College applications

If you already submitted a request for a Letter of Rec from Common App, you must:
1. match your Common App to Naviance (watch linked video ^)
2. re-submit the request through Naviance

For Other Schools that require Letters of Rec but are not on the Common App, please add them to your "Colleges I'm Applying To List" on Naviance, and request letters of rec through Naviance.

STUDENTS***When you go to select your Staff Member for your letter of rec. request, you will see that there are only like 6 names. This will be updated by the end of next week, and you should be able to request from any of your teachers. If you don't see your teachers' name on the list by next Friday, please reach out.

~CCC: Senior Family College Application Overview: 9/11 @ 6:30PM in BHS Library
~Deadline to register for 10/27 ACT Test Date: 9/28
~FAFSA (Financial Aid) Opens: 10/1
~CSU Applications Open: 10/1
~CCC: Senior Family Financial Aid Presentation: 10/3 @ 6:30PM in BHS Library
