New College Advisor and Naviance Introduction

Introduction
Hello, my name is David An and I'll be serving as a College Advisor for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. This previous year I was an Intervention Counselor at Berkeley High and worked as a school counselor in Southern California and New York City before that. I'm very excited to be serving our students to prepare them for life after high school. Our CCC website<http://bhs.berkeleyschools.net/resources/college-career-center/> and Naviance Family Connect portal<http://connection.naviance.com/berkeleyhigh> will regularly be updated starting in the summer; please refer to them for all things college (scholarships, dates/deadlines, financial aid, and application support). I'm also accessible as a personal resource to students and families via e-mail<mailto:davidan at berkeley.net>.

Naviance
Naviance is a comprehensive college and career platform that many high schools across the country use. Students and families can use Naviance Family Connect<http://connection.naviance.com/berkeleyhigh> to search colleges, career pathways, and take personality assessments. Throughout the school year, students will also use Naviance to take important BHS-based surveys, organize letters of recommendations, and look up scholarships.

Students in the Class of 2019 (incoming Seniors) all received an e-mail in their Berkeley student accounts about Naviance. If you have a student in the incoming Senior class please remind them to be checking their student e-mails regularly...starting now and forever.

Senior Profile AKA Senior Survey
Students wishing to request Letters of Recommendation from teachers, counselors, etc. are required to complete their Senior Survey in Naviance by the end of September. Many selective programs and Universities require Letters of Recs so it's best to get started on Senior Surveys right away (deadline: September 14, 2018).

You can access your Senior Profile by clicking "Tasks" under "My Planner" or by going here<https://student.naviance.com/my-planner/tasks-assigned-to-me> once you've logged in. You'll see a link "Complete Senior Survey" under "Tasks you Need to Work On". Follow instructions next to the white/red arrow to take this survey.
