Dear Berkeley High School:

Youth Spirit Artworks Summer Program will begin on Monday, June 25th! In the meantime, interested students can stop by our program to meet with me and get signed up onsite.

Attached is our flyer with updated contact information.

Here is a description of Youth Spirit Artworks:

"Youth Spirit Artworks is a non-profit program that uses art as a medium for personal transformation, leadership development, and job-readiness training. YSA primarily serves youth and young adults between the ages of 16-25 who are homeless, low-income, disabled, or otherwise considered "at-risk". Interested individuals can stop by during program hours to observe, meet with the program staff, and get signed up onsite. Enrollment is open year-round.

New participants (aka "Aspirants") can earn a stipend of $150 per month for attending an average of 6.75 hours per week and completing assigned projects. New participants can also train to be a part of the street sales team where they earn commission on art sales. After a semester, participants can advance into an "Apprentice" position where they assume more responsibility and earn $300 per month. After an additional semester, they can advance into a "Leader" position where they earn $500 per month.

As participants advance through the progression ladder, they are expected to meet with program staff to track their progress on program related goals, and also meet with the case manager for additional support in achieving their personal goals (i.e., housing, employment, education, etc)."
