For BCC Bound Students in Fall 2018:

Become part of a community committed to your success at Berkeley City College and beyond. Get a head start on your application today for the Berkeley Promise, a college access and matriculation scholarship initiative designed to help Berkeley public school graduates advance on a path to earn a degree or certificate that starts with community college

 How to Apply

The Berkeley Promise application is now live! Please click here to create an account and begin your application. The application deadline is Friday, September 28 at 9 PM PST.

GET YOUR RECOMMENDATION REQUEST IN EARLY

We have opened this year’s application early to give you the opportunity to ask for your recommendation BEFORE the end of the school year.

We know it can be awkward to ask a teacher, counselor, or other adult for a recommendation. We want to reassure you that teachers and counselors want to help students succeed. Even if they don't know you really well, they will usually still write a recommendation for you, if you give them enough time to complete it.

 Berkeley High Application Labs

BCF will be at the BHS Library Computer Lab the following dates and times to answer questions about the program and to assist you with starting your applications:

Wednesday, June 6th 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Thursday, June 7th 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

You are eligible to apply if you meet the following criteria:

-A 2018 graduate of Berkeley High School or Berkeley Technology Academy

-Enrolled at BCC in the Fall for the 2018-2019 academic year with the goal of transferring to a 4-year college

-First-generation-to-college student, from a low-income family, and/or are from a group traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

-AB540 students are eligible to apply. Students who take a gap year are not eligible to apply. All finalists for the BCF Promise scholarship will be contacted and interviewed in person before the awards are made.

All applicants must:

-Demonstrate the ability to overcome obstacles to achieve academic and personal goals

-Be willing and interested in giving back to the BCF community by attending events, mentoring younger scholars, etc.

-Demonstrate quality involvement with others through work, school, family and/or community

-Have documented financial need
