Dear Incoming Families,
Please find in this message important information to help plan your transition to Berkeley High School.
1. BHS Athletics Team Info Meeting
Wednesday, May 9, 7:00-8:30 p.m, BHS library.
Athletic Director Britta Fjelstrom will host an informational meeting for REGISTERED incoming 9th graders and parent/guardians only. Many coaches will be in attendance. Come learn about summer sports opportunities, participating in any of the 29 Varsity (JV and Freshmen) teams, and learn how to fill out registration forms online over the summer so you are ready for Fall/Winter/Spring seasons. Football starts in July. All other Fall sports begin tryouts mid-August.
*This event is for any incoming 9th grader who is registered to attend Berkeley High in the Fall. California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) bylaws state that any student who is not currently registered is not allowed to have pre-enrollment contact with Coaches and Athletics staff. Thank you for your understanding.* Questions: athleticdirector at berkeley.net<mailto:athleticdirector at berkeley.net>
2. Social Living, Mental Health & Our Teens A Parent Engagement Event for Incoming 9th Grade Parents/Guardians
Wednesday, May 16, 6:30-8:15 p.m. BHS Library. Please come early for a light dinner served at 6:15.
Come hear from BHS students about staying healthy, mental health and peer education, and from teachers and staff on how the BHS community supports our students' mental health and social-emotional well-being in the transition to high school. Sponsored by the PTSA. Questions: Lea Baechler-Brabo leabaechlerbrabo at gmail.com<mailto:leabaechlerbrabo at gmail.com>
3. Freshmen Orientation and Registration, Wednesday, August 22, Time/Location TBA
Orientation will consist of an assembly, small group sessions facilitated by Link Leaders, and a campus tour, in addition to students receiving their schedule, photo ID, text books and locker assignment. Link Leaders are trained upperclassmen students who will guide a group of 9th graders through orientation until the end of the school year. Time/details will be announced on BHS Etree.
Students who miss registration can check in at the counseling office in the main BHS Admin building, on the first day of school (Monday, August 27) starting at 8:00 am, where they can get a printed copy of their schedule.
