BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BENEFIT CONCERT FEATURING BERKELEY HIGH JAZZ ENSEMBLE

FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 2018

DOORS 7PM / SHOW 8PM

Berkeley High School Jazz is proud to host its 3rd annual Latin Dance Party at the UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall (2036 University Ave., Berkeley, California). On Friday, June 1st, the Berkeley High School’s Jazz Ensemble and All-Star Lab bands will make this a glamorous evening of big band sounds with Latin dancing.

The event will start at 7:00 p.m. with a free salsa dance lesson by Jake Jacobs, followed by a performance by the BHS Jazz All-Star Lab Band. Once everyone is warmed up, BHS Jazz Ensemble – fresh from their trip to Cuba and an open-air concert on Berkeley’s Fourth Street (May 12) ‒ will take the stage to enthrall the audience in a night full of exciting Latin jazz. The evening is a benefit for the Berkeley High School Jazz program.

Berkeley High Jazz is internationally known as an incubator for local jazz talent. The Berkeley community holds this program in high esteem with good reason. Alumni including Benny Green, Peter Apfelbaum, Joshua Redman, Dayna Stephens, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Elena Pinderhughes have become professional musicians currently contributing to the art of jazz.

Ticket options range from $20 for under-21 dance-floor space to $95 for VIP tabled seating. Tickets are available from BHS Jazz programs students or at
