Positive Shout Outs

Mrs. Jefferson wants to shout out the Coffee Cart crew for delivering healthy snacks and beverages to Berkeley High School Staff and Students; we appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Rosemary and Allyn want to shout out Ceara: "You are truly a shining ray of light. Thank you for giving us laughter every single day. We just want to say we appreciate everything you do, how hard you work, and your dedication. You're future is going to be so bright, we just know. Love you so much more than you'll ever know!"

pv wants to shout out Elias for being an amazing friend and supportive.

Ms. Youngblood wants to shout out the entire Yearbook staff for working hard and staying late into the night to create the BHS yearbook! The staff is always positive, perseveres amid setbacks, and lovely to spend time with!

An anonymous student wants to shout out Ms. Hendrickson and her 2nd period class for being an awesome class and a great learning community.

Segen and Elise want to shout out Ms. Gilden for being an amazing teacher: "We'll miss you next year!"

Ms. Berg wants to shout the staff of the Jacket newspaper for winning the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Silver Crown for the 2016-17 school year. They are one of 60 student newspapers in the country to earn this prestigious award. Keep up the good work!


High School Chapter of Hispanic Engineering Society

BHS is establishing a high school chapter of the Hispanic Engineering Society in partnership with UC Berkeley’s Hispanic Engineering Society. If you are interested in joining the club, please see Mr. Byndloss in his office (D-140).


Morning Sports Report

Rain is not in the forecast for today, so our Jacket sports teams can finally play outside! The girls lacrosse teams play against Piedmont High School this afternoon at Jacket Stadium, the swimming and diving teams host Bishop O’Dowd after school in the Jacket Pool, and the JV baseball team welcomes Miramonte at Moellering Field. Away games today include varsity baseball team and boys JV lacrosse.


Tomorrow, the track and field team competes in the Oakland Invitational Relays at Laney College, the varsity and JV baseball teams take on Irvington at Moellering Field, the varsity softball team plays on the road against Terra Linda, and the freshman baseball team has a doubleheader against De La Salle.


Advanced Dance Lab Performance

Tonight at 7:00 in the Little Theater, students in the Advanced Dance Lab will present their spring show. Tickets are $5 for students, $12 general admission, and $5 for seniors. If you can’t come tonight, there will be another performance tomorrow night at 7:00.


Prom 2018

BHS Prom 2018: Masquerade will take place on Saturday, April 21, from 8:00 until 11:30 at the San Francisco Design Center. Tickets are now on sale online for only $70 per person; go to bhsprom2018.bpt.me to buy yours today. Beginning Monday, March 26, tickets will also be sold daily in the Leadership Office at lunch and after school for $75; cash, checks and money orders are accepted (payable to BHS ASB). The ticket price will increase to $80 after March 30, so buy early. Students in the free and reduced lunch program can purchase tickets at $70 for the duration of sales with proof of eligibility at the time of purchase.

ASB Election Results

Thank you, students, for participating in the 2018-2019 ASB election. The results were announced earlier today, and will be published in an upcoming issue of the Jacket newspaper. Many thanks to all who campaigned, and congratulations to the winners. There are still appointed leadership positions available for next year; please visit Mr. V. in the Leadership Office near the Food Court for descriptions and an application.
