International Women's Day - March 8 - Events on Campus
Today is International Women's Day, and here is a partial list of events sponsored by student groups and faculty members:

  *   BHS Stop Harassing: Students are wearing #bhsstopharassing T-shirts today
  *   More than 700 students are viewing the movie Hidden Figures in the Little Theater; the screening will be followed by a panel discussion with women scientists and mathematicians of color
  *   A female poet will work with math students on a combinatorial poetry project in Ms. Dorf's class
  *   An abbreviated version of The Vagina Monologues will be presented, along with a guest speaker to address sexual violence and abuse
  *   Women's Fight for Equality historical timeline in the C-Gallery, and posters in the G/H breezeways (1st and 2nd floor), from Ms. Godner's history students
  *   a video will be shown in classrooms that demystifies Katherine Johnson's math (as depicted in Hidden Figures); it was produced by students in our video production program and hosted by was created by Ms. Albrecht and Ms. Bracken
  *   the Women's Student Union is sponsoring a bake sale in Civic Center Park
There are red signs all over campus; we hope you have one and will wear it in support of international women's rights.

Morning Sports Report
Last night the boys varsity basketball team lost in the first round of the CIF state basketball championships. We want to congratulate the team for a strong season.

Three sports teams are in action today: the boys golf team tees off against Piedmont at Tilden Park, the boys volleyball team plays against Tennyson in the Donahue Gym, and the badminton team hosts Hayward in the Jacket Gym.

Summer Work Opportunities
Students! Do you live in Berkeley and are 14 years or older? Are you looking for a summer job? Then come to the CCC during lunch TODAY to meet with the representative from YouthWorks who can help you find that perfect summer job.

Safety Reminder
As a reminder, the A Gate will be closed during instructional. Students: If you are arriving late to campus for any reason, please be prepared to check in through the front office and show your student ID card. Replacement ID cards are available for a fee in the Counseling Center.

Positive Shout Outs
Positive shout outs will happen tomorrow. Be sure to check your Email later today for a message from Principal Schweng that will include a link you can use to recognize an individual or a group on campus whose actions reflect the great things that are happening to build a positive school culture here at Berkeley High.

Student-Athlete College Recruiting Information Q&A - 3/12/18
Monday, March 12 - 7:00 pm at the Berkeley High Library. College Recruiting Consultant and former Cal Women's Soccer Head Coach, "JT" Jennifer Thomas will present the college athletics landscape (Div. I, Div. II, Div. III), and the best ways parents and student-athletes can navigate the process. Current and past BHS student-athletes who have gone through the recruiting process will also be sharing their experiences and taking questions. Any student-athletes who are considering continuing to play Intercollegiate athletics and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
