Course Scheduling for the 2018-2019 School Year

Starting February 20, Academic Counselors began meeting with all current 9th-11th grade students, typically during their English classes, in order to submit course requests for the 2018-19 school year; these meetings will continue through March 20.

In addition to making course selections, you will also have the opportunity to enter the lottery if you wish to move out of your current Small Learning Community for the 2018-19 school year. You can only enter the lottery at the time you meet with your counselor for course scheduling.

All BHS students can pick up a 2018-19 Course Catalog from the Counseling Office in order to review our course offerings for next year.

Career Exploration Opportunities

Students: Have you been reading the Email messages from our Career Advisor, Mr. Dopman? There are lots of great opportunities coming up, and we will highlight a few below:

Cabin Counselors are needed for an outdoor education program. The program takes place at Exploring New Horizons: Sempervirens Outdoor School. If you are responsible, enthusiastic, energetic, and would enjoy working with 6th graders, please apply for this week of fun and lasting memories! NOTE: This opportunity is during the school year, requiring you to be able to navigate missing one week of school during one of the following dates: April 16-20th or May 7-10. An informational presentation will be held in the College & Career Center at lunch THIS Thursday, March 1st , immediately followed by a training workshop during 4th period (sign in sheet to clear absence will be available). The application is available in the CCC - if interested, please come with application completed.

Interested in a health care career? Wondering what it's like to be pre-med in college? Then come to a quick Pre-Med Big Picture Overview Presentation this Friday March 2nd at lunchtime in the CCC! We'll answer any questions you may have, and you'll have the chance to sign up for other one-on-one and small-group mentorship workshops this semester. These events are led by UC Berkeley's Pre-Medical Honor Society, an undergraduate club geared towards providing resources and building community for navigating the pre-med track.
