CCC IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS


SENIORS:

*Financial Aid: *The FAFSA and Dream Act Applications are due March 2nd! Come to Financial Aid workshops in the Library Computer Lab after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays!  College Advisors will be available to help you with your FAFSA, Dream Act, Scholarship applications, and CSS profiles. Also, PLEASE Check your college portals to see if you are missing any documents.  Refer to your previous student emails or visit the CCC for more information.

*Cal Grants:  Your GPA verification will be uploaded to the California Student Aid Commission by the Registrar by March 2nd.  You do not need to take any action at this time.  in the meantime, create an account an account on the Cal Grant website to check your status and next steps: https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/logon.asp

College Visits:

1. CSU Northridge will be in the CCC on February 15, 2018 at 12:30 PM (4th period) to talk about next steps for matriculation, orientation, housing, and more.  If you applied and/ or  are already admitted, bring your questions for the Outreach Counselor, Anthony Bennett.  Ask your 4th period teacher in advance of the visit and bring a signed pass.

2. CSU, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly or SLO) will be in the CCC for admitted students on March 23rdat 3rd period.  Ask your 3rd period teacher before the visit and bring a signed pass.  Meet the Admissions Officer, Anna Kei Black-Hogins, to learn about the next steps.


JUNIORS:

College visits:

*Find out about University of California, Irvine from Krandalyn Goodman in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at lunch time (11:38 AM-12:18 PM).   Bring your lunch right after 3rd period and bring questions you cannot find on the website.

*California State University, San Luis Obispo (SLO) -Cal Poly  will be in the CCC on March 23, 2018 during lunch.  Please arrive promptly after 3rd period. Meet Admissions Officer, Anna Kei Black Hogins, to learn about Cal Poly programs and a fundraising program for college expenses, Raiseme.


ALL GRADE LEVELS:  *Interested in HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities)?  There will be a Black College Expo at the Oakland Marriot on Saturday, February 17th.  For more details, visit: www.thecollegeexpo.org

*Pre-Black College Expo Info Assembly: Meet some representatives from the Black College Expo in the BHS Little Theater on February 13, 2018 at 3rd period.  There will be free passes to the Black College Expo.  Come to the theater on 2/13 at 3rd period to find out more about the expo and how to be ready with transcripts and test scores for on the spot admission.  Come to the CCC if you want a permission slip.


ALL GRADE LEVELS:  Do you need help applying for summer programs, or writing scholarship application or college essays?  The CCC will have a reader on hand on Thursdays after school, and Fridays at lunch.  Please visit the CCC to take advantage of this great resource!
