Dead Week Begins Today
Today marks the beginning of Dead Week, which falls the week before final exams. During Dead Week, teachers will review key topics with students in preparation for Semester 1 final exams, or they will give students time in class to work on final projects and presentations. There may be fewer homework assignments in some classes this week (so that you can focus on studying for finals), and there are no field trips and no fundraising activities. It’s really important to be in class on time this week so you won’t miss out on information you need to succeed on your finals!
Celebrating Jacket Musicians
Congratulations to Alexis Robinson, Karina Birenbaum, and Kati Leitner, who performed in the CMEA Bay Section Honor Band and Orchestra this weekend!
Special Bell Schedule for Final Exams
Fall Semester final exams begin next Wednesday, January 24. You can find the complete bell schedule for final exams on pages 70 and 71 of your BHS Student Organizer/Handbook. From Wednesday through Friday of next week, students will go to only two periods each day, but each period will be two hours long for final exams and presentations. At 12:40 pm on those days, students are free to leave campus for the day, or you can go to lunch and return to campus at 1:30 to meet with teachers or study.
Morning Sports Report
Jacket sports teams who won over the weekend include: girls varsity soccer, girls freshman soccer, boys varsity soccer, and boys freshman soccer, all of whom shut out their opponents; boys varsity basketball, and girls JV basketball.
There are no scheduled home games today, but mark your calendars to come out and support the boys soccer teams on Wednesday at Jacket Stadium, the wrestling team on Thursday – it’s Senior Night! – in the M Gym, and the girls basketball and soccer teams on Friday night. Admission is charged for basketball and soccer games, but ASB sticker holders get in for free.
Congratulations to the following fall sports teams for being recognized by the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation with the Scholastic Championship Team Award: Girls Water Polo, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball,
Girls Cross Country and Boys Cross Country. These teams achieved the highest of goals in educational athletics. This award is presented to the top three NCS varsity teams in each division or classification in each sport with the highest composite GPA of 3.0 or above. Recognizing that there are 170 schools in the NCS, this is indeed an outstanding achievement! Well done, Yellowjackets!
