Well, that was a busy week for students who completed the UC and CSU
applications!  Well done!

*Still thinking of applying to Cal State University or want to add a
campus?*

San Francisco State University and CSU East Bay extended their deadline to

*Next steps:*

1.*Create a portal* or e-mail address at all the schools where you
submitted an application. The portal is the main communication from the
school, especially for the status of your application and supporting
documents.  Keep track of usernames and passwords in a spreadsheet or
notes. Applicants should receive instructions from schools on how to set up
portals.  Check your emails regularly!!!

2. *Send SAT or ACT scores* to schools. Pick 1 UC and 1 CSU and the other
UCs and CSUs can access scores.  Must go to SAT or ACT account and request
and pay for official score report.  Each private school must receive own
copy, unless the school said self- report or unofficial scores are
acceptable.

3. *Do not send AP or IB scores.* One requests those scores to be sent to
your final school that you will attend so you may receive college credit,
depending on the college's qualifying score.

4. *Finish the financial aid application* at FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.
See an academic counselor or college advisor, Melanie Aguas or Brianna
Brooks for FAFSA help.  You do not need to send Cal Grant forms.  Our
Registrar, Ms. Mellion, sends GPA to California Student Aid Commission.

5.* Got more schools on your list?*  There is still time to apply to
private colleges or universities, usually until Jan, 1 or 15, or Feb. 1 or
rolling admissions.  Check each school's deadline.  Over 600 schools are
available on the Common Application. http://www.commonapp.org/

6. *Essay Readers*: Essay Readers are still available to review your
writing for college or scholarship applications.  Free service is drop in,
first come, first served from sign in sheet.  Readers are available Mondays
@ 9AM, lunch, & after school; Tuesdays-Thursdays @ lunch & after school;

7.* Check out California Community Colleges* and create an account for
future enrollment.  The enrollment for community college will begin in the
spring for Fall 2018 admission. https://home.cccapply.org/colleges

On-line application opens soon. Get started with hands on help from BCF
staff in a workshop/lab on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 3:30 PM-5:00 PM in the CCC,
D-221.

*New scholarship for African American women: Due 12/29/17*
