Dear Berkeley High School Community,



Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) is a paid art internship and job readiness
training program for homeless, low-income, and at-risk youth and young
adults between the ages of 16-25 living in Berkeley and surrounding
cities.  Enrollment is ongoing and year-round.  Prospective interns can
stop our studio Monday - Friday between 12:30pm - 6:30pm to get more
information and sign up.



High school students may receive work experience elective credits through
their school for completing an internship at YSA.  Interns receive a
monthly stipend starting at $150 per month for attending an average of
three 2.5 hour sessions per week, completing assigned art projects, and
attending Youth Empowerment Meetings on Fridays.  Interns also earn
commission from selling their artwork.



Interns learn art, entrepreneurial, leadership, and job-readiness skills
through art lessons, program activities, and events.  In addition,
participants also receive employment, education, and personal support from
the social work case manager as needed.  After completing a semester,
interns have the opportunity to advance into a leadership role with
increased pay.
