Good Morning! It’s Elan & Ike with the morning announcements for Monday,
September 11.



*September 11 Reflection*

Today we reflect, honor and commemorate the 16th year anniversary of
September 11, 2001. This was the day that our country was attacked and many
lost their lives. Today, we remember the men and women who died; and those
families who lost loved ones. Today, we honor those, such as fire fighters,
police officers, doctors and even everyday people who risked their lives to
help others. Today, we celebrate America’s resilience, ability to work
together, help one another, and commit to respecting all people – no matter
race, culture or religion. Please join us for a moment of silence.



*Attendance Reminder*

Teachers: please remember to take attendance within the first 10 minutes of
2nd period. Thank you!



*Announcements for Seniors*

· Representatives from 13 colleges – including UCLA, Spelman and Smith –
are visiting BHS this week. Check your student email for the complete list,
and if you’re interested in attending one of the presentations, be sure to
ask your teacher for that period to sign your College Presentation Pass.

· Remind your parents about tomorrow night’s College Application
Information Night for Parents; it begins at 6:30 in the Library.

· Senior Profiles are due Thursday, September 14th.

· Appointments for Senior Portraits are now available. Visit 2018senior.com
and click on the orange button in the middle of the screen to schedule an
appointment. Use your student ID number as the code.



*Show Your Jacket Pride*

ASB Leadership offers Berkeley High students and community members 3 ways
to show Jacket Pride: students can purchase an ASB sticker, an ASB spirit
pack, or Jacket gear. Visit the Leadership Office for more information.
Choose one option, or all three!!!



*Jacket Newspaper Is Looking for 9th Graders*

Attention Freshmen! Join the Jacket newspaper! We are currently looking to
hire writers, photographers, and illustrators. Applications for all
positions can be found on berkeleyhighjacket.com/applications and are due
on September 15th. Email Maayan Ziv at maayanziv at students.berkeley.net with
questions.



*Morning Sports Report*

Over the weekend, the boys varsity football team lost to Milpitas High
School, and our girls varsity volleyball team competed in a tournament;
they won two matches and lost two matches. Tomorrow is a big sports day,
with the girls field hockey, golf and volleyball teams in action as well as
the boys and girls water polo teams.



Tomorrow there will be no morning announcements; instead, ASB leadership
ambassadors will visit most 2nd period classes to introduce themselves and
share information.
