Good Morning! This is Juan Raygoza, Vice Principal, with the morning
announcements for Friday, September 1.

As you know, our area is under an excessive heat warning for the next few
days. Current temperatures are in the 80s, and today’s high will be near
100 degrees. We will be monitoring temperatures in classrooms, and moving
classes as necessary. We encourage everyone to stay hydrated throughout the
day by using a water bottle and keeping it full by using one of the water
bottle filling stations on campus. A huge thank you to the Ecology Center
for donating water bottles to all of our 9th graders this year - please use
them!

We want to thank you, students, for being on time for every class. You
should know that students cannot leave class – even with a pass – during
the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of class, so be sure to tend
to locker and restroom needs before you enter the classroom. Starting soon
students outside of class without a pass risk receiving an on-campus lunch
time detention. Your family will also be contacted. Skipping lunch detention
may result in a family meeting, an after-school detention, or more
serious consequences.
Please remember to have a pass if you are in the halls during class!

Discounted BART tickets will be sold next week in the Parent Resource
Center. The price for a BART orange ticket is $16, but the ticket will have
$32 in value. Students can purchase up to 4 tickets each month. Come to the
Parent Resource Center, room D-224 on Wednesday, September 6, and Thursday,
September 7, during lunchtime to place your order for discounted BART
tickets. Cash only - no checks accepted. Tickets will arrive within 8-14
days.

*Morning Sports Report:* Today’s away football games against Dougherty
Valley High School have been cancelled because of excessive heat. Our girls
field hockey teams will travel to San Francisco this afternoon to play
University High School. Interested in rowing for Berkeley High? Come learn
about this fun and challenging sport at the Novice Crew Meeting on
Wednesday, September 6th from 4:00 - 4:30 PM at the Jacket Stadium
bleachers.

Today is a great day to stay on campus at lunch! In the air-conditioned
Food Court, students can purchase a full meal for just $5. Entrée choices
today are nachos with beans and rice, or cheese or pepperoni pizza; the
price also includes a salad bar, fresh fruit and milk.

Finally, we want to remind everyone that there is no school on Monday,
September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Thank you for
listening, and have a wonderful three-day weekend!
