*Baseball*

Baseball finishes up season play with an 18-5 record, lots of home runs
(grand slams!) and some great games!  They play Tuesday 5/16 at Castro
Valley in the WACC league championships at 4:00.  Probable away Thursday
game to follow and then on to NCS.

Go Jackets!



*Crew, Boys and Girls*

Highlights from the US Rowing Southwest Youth Championship included our
Women's Open Four winning the bronze medal and our Men's Novice Quad making
the Final and finishing 5th out of a total of 20 entries. Full results are

*Softball*

WACC championship games will be held next week and the BHS Jackets will be
hosting Bishop O’Dowd here at the Berkeley High Softball field at 4:00 on
Tuesday 5/16.  Probable away Thursday game to follow and then on to NCS.

Do not miss this opportunity to cheer, right after the school day, and
watch some fantastic softball!!



*Swimming and Diving, Boys and Girls *

DIVING: Zev Bennett, Gina Banfield and Polina Vorobyeva competed in the NSC
diving finals on 5/11.  Congratulations to the entire diving team on a
great season!



SWIMMING: (update from Coach Hernandez) NCS Finals 5/13

Highlights - Jack Faller winning the 50 Free & 100 Breast, breaking the
school records in both events.  Haley Kirtland broke three school records
this year: 100 Breast, 200 Free and 100 Free putting her on the board a
total of 5 times by the end of her sophomore season.

We had three individuals at NCS this year, plus 2 boys relays.  Paul
Ogle-Sporer 100 Free, Haley Kirtland 100 & 200 Free, and Jack Faller 50
Free & 100 Breast.  The 200 Free Relay was Paul, Gabe Berman, Jameson Wang,
and Jack.  The 400 Free Relay was Paul, Maxime Hendrikse Liu, Matthew Shen,
and Jack.



Jack was top seed in the 50 Free and 2nd seed in the 100 Breast at NCS.
But for Jack, the fun in swimming is not for individual success or personal
glory, it's in swimming with and for the team.  He swims with all his heart
and ability for his team, but his team wasn't going to be at finals on
Saturday of NCS.  He was the only one to qualify for finals.  It's his
senior year and he is not going to be swimming next year, so he decided to
scratch from finals.  He finished his season helping the boys come within
21 points of beating the team that has won the championship for many years.




*Tennis, Boys*

Saturday 5/13 the Tennis team played in the NCS Semi-Finals vs. Dougherty
Valley #2.  All matches ended close but the Jackets did not prevail over
the 4 years in a row NCS champions, Dougherty Valley.  All reports were
that the Jackets played great tennis the whole season long, always
displaying great sportsmanship in matches and playing hard.  They upset
Piedmont for the first time in many years and were League co-champions.
