May 25: Free showing of “Screenagers" film on family struggles over screen time

BUSD families are invited to a free screening of the award-winning film "Screenagers<https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/03/15/in-screenagers-what-to-do-about-too-much-screen-time/?_r=0>," which explores family struggles over screen time, including social media, cell phones and internet addiction.

When: Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 6:30pm (doors open at 6pm)
Where: Berkeley High School Library, 1980 Alston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704

"Screenagers" looks at the impact of screen time on kids and offers solutions on how we can help kids find balance.
The film's website<https://www.screenagersmovie.com/> includes a trailer.

The director, Dr. Delaney Ruston, decided to make "Screenagers" when she found herself constantly struggling with her own two kids about screen time. This is depicted along with many other stories in the film. Dr. Ruston has won several awards for her work using films to create movements for social change and has been invited to give talks to all types of audiences around the world.

Screenagers' producer Lisa Tabb will attend the screening and moderate the discussion following the film. Both she and Ruston graduated from Berkeley High in the mid-1980s.

Parents can bring their kids of all ages to see the film and participate in the post-screening discussions.

The event is being hosted by the BUSD Office of Family Engagement and Equity and Berkeley High School. Flyers in English and Spanish can be viewed on the District website<http://www.berkeleyschools.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Screenagers-Poster-EnglishSpanish.pdf>.
