hear the announcements where you are during second period, or if you
would like to read them each day, you can find them in the Daily
Bulletin section of Powerschool.
*Morning Sports Report
*
Congratulations to the following Jacket track & field athletes for their
1st place finishes in Saturday's West Alameda County Conference
Non-Varsity Championship at Jacket Stadium:
Jake Jandra in the boys 400 meters; Jovi Tseng in the boys 1600 meters;
Shira Cohen in the girls 100 meters & 200 meters; Sofia Brown in the
girls 800 meters; Olivia De Liberty in girls discus; Lily Baker in the
girls high jump; Indigo Carlson in the girls long jump and triple jump.
Ten other freshman and sophomore teammates had top-five finishes. Coming
up next is the conference Varsity Championship; Berkeley High has 35
entries in girls' events and 39 entries in boys' event. The trials are
on Thursday afternoon and the finals are on Saturday at San Leandro's
Burrell Field.
In recent baseball action, after playing six games in ten days, the boys
varsity baseball team takes its 10-4 league record to San Leandro on
Tuesday and then plays San Leandro at home on Thursday for Senior Night.
The boys JV baseball team hopes to extend its 3-game winning streak
during the final week of the season as they host San Leandro on Tuesday
and end the season at San Leandro. And the boys freshman baseball team
defeated Bishop O'Dowd last week and plays again on Saturday in San
Ramon against Dougherty Valley.
On the softball diamond, the girls varsity team defeated St. Mary's on
Senior Night, and will finish the regular season on Tuesday at San
Leandro. The girls JV softball will play its final home game on Tuesday
against San Leandro, and will end its season on Friday in Pleasant Hill,
where they will play College Park.
*In playoff action this week:*
The boys tennis team plays in the first round of the NCS Division I
Championship against Monte Vista in Danville on Tuesday at 3:30.
The boys varsity lacrosse team plays in the first round of the North
Coast Section Division I Championship on the road against top seed San
Ramon Valley on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Finally, we want to congratulate the other spring sports teams whose
seasons recently completed: the boys volleyball team and the girls
varsity and JV lacrosse teams.

Because of AP & IB exams, there will be no morning announcements on
those days. We will resume morning announcements on Tuesday, May 16. In
the meantime, check the PowerSchool Student Daily Bulletin for important
information about upcoming events and activities; we will continue to
update it daily.

All Berkeley Unified School District schools and offices will be closed
on Monday, May 15, in observance of the Malcolm X Birthday Holiday.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 16.

Hello Berkeley High School!
Please join your own Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble for an amazing
concert this Friday, May 12th at the UC Theatre.
The Jazz Ensemble will be opening for two wonderful pro bands: Peter
Apfelbaum's "Sparkler" and a new band with many BHS Jazz alumni called
"Alma Matters"
Performers include Terrance Kelley, Tony Lindsay, Natalie Cressman,
Eddie M., John Santos, Peter Apfelbaum, Will Bernard, Erik Jekobsen,
Josh Jones, Jill Ryan, Keith McArthur, Erika Oba, and a host of others.
Tickets are available from any BHS Jazz student, or email Ms. Cline at
sarahcline at berkeley.net <mailto:sarahcline at berkeley.net> Tickets are
also available at the UC Theatre box office, but they cost a little bit
more there.
